VICTORY LAP

VICTORY LAP ★

A night full of cowboy hats, boots and good ol community. I left Leanna Firestone’s “Victory Lap” tour stop in Denver feeling like I’d just lived through one of the most genuinely fun nights out. From start to finish, the energy never died down. It felt less like a formal show and more like stepping into a big, shared night with friends.

The night opened with Abby Cates, who set the tone for what would become a very interactive and welcoming evening. I hadn’t heard of her before this show, but she won me over almost instantly. She was fun, natural on stage, and shared introductions about what she was about to perform. It felt like she was letting us in on her world instead of just performing at us.

At one point she looked at her setlist which was written on her hand, quickly making it clear she wasn’t checking the time or rushing, just making sure what was next. By the end of her set, her song “Toyota Camry” had already become stuck in my head, causing me to leave as a new fan.

As her set wrapped up, anticipation started building for Leanna Firestone, though Abby wouldn’t be gone for long. Later in the night, she returned as part of the band alongside drummer Molly Rose.

Leanna Firestone stepped on stage opening with “Foreverever,” and the crowd responded instantly. Her presence is the kind that pulls everyone in without effort; it feltlike the entire room was moving together as one.

Her setlist had a huge contribution of audience interaction. There were constant moments where she pointed the mic toward the crowd and let them take over having them sing back her lyrics to her. Leanna also moved constantly across the stage, every side of the crowd felt included rather than focusing on just one side.

After an energetic beginning, she slowed things down into a stripped down portion with just a piano and guitar. She joked that it would feel more like karaoke, especially with Denver’s altitude and her allergies working against her.

As part of her acoustic section Leanna brought Abby Cates back on stage, introducing her as “one of my best friends and my greatest enemy.” Together, they performed “Confirmation Bias,” which turns out to be Abby’s favorite song from Leanna’s album The Answer. It was really nice to see their friendship translate into their performance.

Another memorable moment was when Leanna shared a shot with a fan in the crowd, joking about Denver’s alcohol laws and how it was apple cider instead. The fan was celebrating their birthday which made the moment feel even more personal and special.

At last she closed the show with her encore, “Town Ain’t Big Enough,” taking a fan’s cowboy hat, dancing around, and keeping the energy alive until the very last second.

Even once the show was over, the energy didn’t really end. People stayed around buying merch, taking pictures like nobody was ready to call it quits. I highly enjoyed the Leanna Firestone concert. By the end of it, she didn’t just perform a set. She created an environment where everyone felt included and had so much fun even if it was just for one night.
