Heaven in A Glass on a Tuesday night in Denver
With Colorado being the debut of the Summer Tour presented by Brotherkenzie, the anticipation was high. What is the setlist going to be? Am I going to hear my favorite song? Will he play Heaven In A Glass ? Just to mention a few murmurs heard in the crowd prior to the lights going down.

The first act of the night was Dirt Buyer, who was a completely new artist to me! I always love indulging in new music, and what better way to experience it than live? Compared to his studio music, he gave us a stripped down performance including a few covers- which he mentions he wishes he wrote (who doesnt!?) in order to get the crowd laughing. He was so into the show, he even stopped to ask “what time is it?” with worry he was going over his slot.

Brotherkenzie, aka Nathan, who is often seen on stage with the rest of his band - Hippo Campus , took the stage solo at the Lost Lake Lounge. This intimate sized venue allowed the audience to really connect with the music, to the point when I would look around the room, many people had their eyes closed… really grounding themselves with the music.
Multi instrumentalist and extremely talented vocalist as he is , Nathan treated Denver to a night of songs both old and brand new. His most recent project “North Star” dropped just 2 weeks before the start of the tour, and the audience already knew the words to the songs he performed including one of my favorites from the project- “Nothin’”
Playing guitar for every song and accompanied by his friends, Sam and Tarek on the keys and drums, each song was a full production that required intricate attention to detail. This made for such an immersive experience with talking points inserted perfectly during moments where the guitar was being tuned to a different key, creating space for connection to the audience to foster.
If this wasn't enough, Nathan came and did a special encore because the audience was so loud and persistent in cheering for him. After some debate, the room settled on Heaven In A Glass, which is my all time favorite song from Brotherkenzie… and it did in fact bring me to tears. That song is genuinely so beautiful and hearing it live and stripped down in a room full of people singing it together was such an ethereal experience I will never forget.
Not even 2 minutes after getting off stage, Nathan was already by the merch booth ready to chat with the concert goers and sign some vinyls and cds. This down to earth guy I tell you! If you don't know who Brotherkenzie is, might I suggest tapping in if you love some pure talent, killer vocals, and a shredder on guitar in the folk and indie kind of way.
