Following his run at Lollapalooza across South America, Ruel kicked off his “Kicking My Feet” North America tour in Denver at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom!
For the second leg of the tour, he brought along Mercer Henderson and Chelsea Jordan as openers, both of whom set the tone early and helped build the energy leading into Ruel’s set.

Chelsea Jordan was the perfect choice to start off the night, bringing in her soulful R&B vibrant energy. Even through the technical difficulties and having trouble with her in-ear monitors, she never showed a sign of struggle, pushing through with a smile on her face. Switching things up midway through her set, she surprised the crowd by doing a cover of “Yukon” By Justin Bieber, and just like that, the crowd didn’t hesitate singing along with her word for word. She kept interacting with the crowd throughout her set, keeping everyone uplifted and excited for what was to come. By the time she stepped off stage, Chelsea Jordan had gained a wave of new fans behind her.

The second act of the night was Mercer Henderson, and what an experience it was. Known for crafting “Heartbreak Anthems,” she delivered that exactly to the crowd. From the moment she stepped on stage, she made it hers by shifting the energy and making everyone jump on their feet all while relating to her lyrics. She made the night more memorable by incorporating small but meaningful moments into her set, handing out a guitar pick or a drumstick to fans during different songs, creating a stronger connection with the crowd. By the end of her set, Mercer Henderson had left an incredible impression, turning nearly everyone in the crowd into a new fan of herself, her amazing outfit, and her incredible bob.
There’s a moment at every concert when the crowd knows what’s coming next. The lights go dim, the stage is set, and you know what you came for is about to begin. But Ruel couldn’t let us start quietly, he got us laughing and hyped as his walkout song blasted none other than “Redrum” by 21 Savage.
As soon as Ruel walked into the room, the crowd erupted. The moment he kicked off his performance with “Only Ever,” the excitement was undeniable and completely off the walls. He delivered a setlist that blended new tracks from his latest album Kicking My Feet with fan favorite classics like “Younger” and “Face to Face,” creating a performance that felt both fresh and nostalgic.
After starting the show with high, up-beat energy, dancing and getting the crowd to move and jump around, Ruel shifted the mood by slowing things down for the acoustic portion of the set. During this more intimate segment he performed “No News Is Good News” a song told from his mom’s perspective which added more emotions to the night. He even surprised fans when he performed his song “Hard Sometimes” on the piano, which he hadn’t in a long time making it more memorable and special.
Picking up right where the energy left off, Ruel performed “Don’t Say That” live for the first time since its official release as the lead single from his upcoming deluxe project “Kicking & Screaming.” which is set to be released June 12th He even showcased what he learned during his time in South American when he performed “Wild Guess” opening it with the Spanish translated chorus.
This was my second time seeing Ruel and by the end of the night my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. The entire show was pure fun from start to finish. He’s an extraordinary performer, gifted on both guitar and piano, and has truly remarkable vocals. I left the show kicking my feet already counting down for the days until the next one.
